Challenge 4 - Kabelo Grade 5

Lazy Saturday

Elsie had enough of waking up early on Saturday mornings to go to gymnastics. This Saturday, she got to be lazy since there was no gymnastics.  She opened her kitchen cupboard  and she saw all the snacks in existence. After her ten minute spastic victory dance, she started grabbing snacks. The items she found were chips and sweet snacks. She placed everything in a row on her table in her room so she could lie down. As she ate and watched TV, she saw a fly but it instantly left the room. Her exact words were "Best lazy Saturday ever!"

Challenge 3 - Karmen Grade 5

Flight 554

I woke up to sound of the pilot of the airplane frantically shouting, "MAYDAY, MAYDAY!" Something was very wrong! I ran to the front part of the plane to see what was going on. I registered two things at the same time, one: smoke coming out of the right engine and two: the plane was busy falling! Then I heard the voice of the air-traffic controller saying, "flight 554,stay calm and get ready to.....when the connection broke, for a second there was silence. Then all we could hear were branches breaking as we crashed through the trees.

Challenge 3 - Rosie Grade 5

Bullets

Bullets, millions of them, from all directions and I knew sooner or later they would come my way. I dropped down onto my hands and knees and slowly crept to the table. On that table was my radio, which was a good start, but if I stood up to reach it they would see me. I needed a distraction so I threw my shoe across the room. As I did that I grabbed the radio and ducked. I radioed the Captain and requested backup. The Captain started responding, then I heard a massive explosion and that's when the connection broke.

Connection

Where am I? Why am I here? How did I get here? I have to get out of here...but how? Then I thought, my phone, I can make a phone call! I need to get a bit of reception so I'm wandering around. Then suddenly I get one bar of reception. I was waiting and waiting for mom to pick up, when the connection broke. I hear footsteps, coming towards me. Who is it?

Challenge 3: Kabelo Grade 5

Disconnected

Annie and Sydney were inseparable. Together, they could do anything. They met when they were 5 and ever since then, they did everything together. That was until Sydney moved. At first Annie called her regularly, but soon they started drifting apart. Everything fell apart when the connection broke. The problem was that they were both too busy to call each other. One day Annie found the time to go shopping and there she was! Sydney was right there in front of her. They both couldn't believe their eyes, but they were overjoyed.

Challenge 3 - Andreia Grade 6

I haven't talked to Cammie in weeks. It's summer holiday, and she has been away. I have something really important to tell her, and it's perfect timing, as today she is arriving home. I plan on telling her the good news tonight, on the telephone. I have been practicing how I am going to say what I want to say for about an hour, now. I sat on my bed, and grabbed the phone. I dialed her number. 'Hello," she said. I was about to reply, when the connection broke. My baby brother had cut the cord. Thanks a lot!

Three men trading

"I started twenty years ago, with absolutely nothing. That's why I'm here, to trade and sell," explained Mr Johnson. Mr Chang and Mr Brahmin thought about the deal for a moment. The atmosphere was tense. "I'm sorry the offer is late gentlemen, but at this price I'll be coming back for more " Mr Johnson said. Mr Brahmin answered, "I'll give you four crates of rice, but that's it!" Mr Chang stared into Mr Johnson's eyes. He was an old wise man, very smart indeed. "Sir, I have three crates of silk, handmade by my own men. Four pounds a crate."

Statues

Here it is! The place that sells statues. My aunt sent me here, I've been looking all over town. She loves the statues from here, I don't, too realistic, they creep me out. I entered and saw three that immediately caught my eye. They looked so familiar. As I was walking up to them a lady appeared behind me, wearing sunglasses and a scarf around her head. "Yes, you will do." She said. Before I could say anything she pulled off her glasses revealing reptilian eyes. My flesh turned to stone. I knew that statue looked like my missing brother...

All The Confusion

While flicking through the channels on the TV, something caught my eye...it was a statue of three men who appeared to be talking. I was amazed by the clothes they were wearing, two of the men were barefoot and wearing robes. The third man was wearing a smart suit and they appeared to be in China because there were lanterns in the background. The three men looked like leaders and maybe they were talking about World Peace...no wonder they looked worried! Suddenly I heard mom shout "Switch off the tv and come clean your room!"

Challenge 2

Two Egyptian men were touring England. They had asked the traveling agent:
" Where is the coldest country to be in this time of year?"
"England, of course." He replied.
Off to England they went. Once they had landed at the airport, they headed to the bus stop. On the way, they met a well- dressed man, sitting on a bench.
"Could you direct us to the nearest Mosque?" Asked the Egyptian man.
"Sorry sir, but the nearest Mosque is on the other side of England." He replied.
Oh dear, thought the Egyptian men. They should have planned more carefully!

The Great Wall

The Recently, three people on tour met in China. They wanted to go to the Great Wall of China, but just didn't know how to get there. "I know!" said the man from India. "We could take the bus." "No, no!" said the British man. "They're way too dirty!" "How about a donkey?" Suggested the Pakistani man. "Oh deary me! Definitely not!" yelped the British man. "Might fall off and break a nail!" "Oh well, we'll have to walk then." said the Pakistani man. "Well you two have fun." "I'm going to go back to the hotel to drink tea." The others went to the Great Wall while he drank tea.

The Time Travellers...

Long ago men from different religions tried to time travel from 1988. The first man (the one sitting down) was a Christian. The second man (the one on the left) was Catholic. The third man (the one by the back) was a Jewish. Eventually they succeeded in making a time machine and they immediately jumped in and typed in the time they wanted to travel to... The 4 of May 2016 in South Africa. When They arrived they found they where moving statues! The Jewish and Catholic man looked critically at the Christian man. Immediately they traveled to 1988.

The Congregation Conversation

"You have called us all here for a meeting, why?", questioned John curiously. "Two thousand people have moved into our country, but only seventy of them have filled in the correct forms.", responded Peter. "Why do you need us?", Andrew asked. "I heard that you both led congregations, so I figured that you could convince any newcomers in your congregation to fill them in, since there will be many people there. "But some things on those forms are unnecessary! John Exclaimed "Fine, I will have a conversation with the president about that.", Peter finally concluded.

The Bomb

Today I was passing by a humongous bush on my way to the shops,  when I saw three men talking. They were all dressed differently, they looked like they were from different parts of the world. They looked serious. Why? I don't know, but I had to find out. I snuck over behind the bush and heard the one man say, "How are we supposed to destroy the whole entire world? The other guy said,"I have just invented a bomb that can, let's destroy the world!" They were criminals! I don't know what to do next.
