Challenge 7/17 - Willow Grade 4

One morning early I was looking out my window and I saw birds by the thousands, by the millions and suddenly I wished out loud that I could fly with them.

Suddenly a magical creature appeared out of nowhere to grant my wish, and before I could gasp, I was a bird! 

“ Come find me by your big tree” shouted the creature. Then I heard a soft creaking noise,  

but as the door slammed, I knew, my sister had heard, and told my parents everything!

Challenge 7/17 - Mitchell | Grade 4

Brothers!

Today is so annoying because my brother put on this very scary mask and he is running around the house chasing me.This one time I was hiding in my closest and he opens the door of the closest and I screamed very loudly. My mom shouted at me and said ‘‘Stop screaming!“ but he kept on doing it. I ran in the passage into my room I slammed the door but as the door slammed, I knew that it was just my brother and I was not scared anymore. I said to him“I am not scared anymore you can’t scare me“.

Challenge 6/17 - India | Grade 5

What is it?

I have a very special thing, not everybody has one but they are quite popular. They come in different sizes and shapes. Some are short and plump and some are tall and skinny. They are never the same as they’re  all different. They usually come in colours like brown, black, white, gray or golden. You give them a name that describes their personality or their character or give them a name that is very special to you. Some say that they’re  a mans best friend but some say that they’re not. But no matter what you do to them, they will always love you.

Challenge 6/17 - Daniela | Grade 5

My special possession

I have a special possession, it is beautiful and cuddly. It has stars on its ears and beautiful eyes as   purple as the beautiful lavenders Miss Crous has in her class. It was with me at camp when I felt alone and my best friend grabbed it for me during the evacuation at camp. It has a heart that beats with complete joy. How I love its fluffy fur which is as fluffy as a cloud in the sky. It helps me feel better when I'm sad and it makes me feel secure. I will never ever separate from it!

Challenge 6/17 - Willow | Grade 4

Lots of people have one, everyone wants one but sadly some people don't.

You get large ones and small ones, rich ones and poor ones. Animals also have one.

Mine is crazy and sometimes funny and can it can be very annoying at times but I would not trade it for a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Mine can go through a lot of food within a week. I can not eat it but  I love to play and have fun with it. Every single one is different and unique - can you guess what it is?

Challenge 5/17 - Willow | Grade 4

My name is Lonnie, I love laughing! Unlike my brother though, he's sooo boring.

He doesn't even laugh when I tell him my best jokes! ( here's one: Why do candles go on top of a birthday cake? Because they can't go at the bottom! Ha Ha!)  I often take my pet fish for a swim or as humans say “for a walk”,  but, today was different. Fishy and I were swimming when we hit an ice-berg! I burst out laughing, silly me for not looking where I was going!

The show must go on!

I simply couldn't believe it. First the sun was shining and the next it's pouring buckets! “We can't do it, we just can't. I haven't the money to rent a new stage.” My boss said, pacing up and down. “It just had to be outdoors.” I mumbled under my breath. “It was going to be so fantastical, so magical, so stunningly different, but then the weather changed dramatically!” My boss said, emphasizing every word. It’s true it was going to be precisely that, and I have a way to keep it like that. “The show must go on!”

Challenge 4/17 - Mitchell | Grade 4

An Idea

I am so excited because my family and I are going to the beach. I took sunblock, a beach ball and a small boat. When we got to the beach it was perfect and very sunny.My brother and I played volly ball, I won. But then the weather changed dramatically. It started to rain. Mom said, "we have to go home". That made me feel very sad. Then my brother came up with an idea, "we can play volly ball inside" I shouted yay! Then my mom made us a big rainbow cake.

Something's Coming!

It was a lovely peaceful day as the waves gently sprayed my face, “ lovely day for a sail, isn't it” said my cousin as he put up the sail on our tiny wooden boat. I put my hand in the pure blue water  “ I totally agree” I answered as I splashed him.

“ This is the life” but the weather changed dramatically, shocked my cousin looked into the sky. 

“SOMETHINGS  COMING”  the sky turned dark and thunder crashed, that something was still coming….

The stone boy

One day while walking to town, a hungry boy smelled fast food and followed his nose to the smell. He entered the fast food shop and ordered a burger, then took the burger without paying and ran home. On his way home he felt his steps getting heavier, until  he could not move ; his feet had turned into stone! Ever so slowly, the stone consumed him. 

Looking down at his hands holding the burger, the burger whispered: “ don't steal “ 

the boy promised not to steal again, returned to normal and ate the yummy burger in delight.

The New Burger Shop

One day I was driving with my mom to get take away.while we were driving I saw something that cuaght my eye. I shouted stop! My mom stoped so fast I thought we were going to have a car crash! I jumped out the car and ran to the thing that caught my eye. Right infront of me was a home made sculpture , it was hands holding a burger , it read: "New burger Shop in town called the Bronze Burger". I ran and told my mom. We drove off and found the Bronze Burger. And boy the food was good.

Challenge 3/17 - Karmen | Grade 6

The artwork

Well, that's great! A new art project due for tomorrow and I didn't have a clue of what to make. The  brief is to make something using newspaper. I was hungry and I wanted to get in bed,wait that's a good idea I could make something food related, like a hamburger. I started of right away plastering newspaper to form two hands and a patty, two buns, lettuce and cheese. It was done! It looked amazing and just looking at it made me hungry. Im so glad I finished and just in time! I am so relieved and proud.

The Not So Scary Witch

"Finally!" She sighed, looking down at her creation. I don't know how she thinks she's so scary, I wondered as I stared at her funny little cauldron on the floor. Inside was a mixture of boiling green liquid that looked like it had brussels sprouts in it. "Eww!" I thought, and pulled a face. She wore a witches costume -The EXACT one I wore to Halloween! - and a pathetic green wig. "It's happening!" She screeched. Suddenly, the liquid started molding into a pair of hands. They clapped and, strangely, a burger popped out. She grabbed it and started chewing viciously.

Giving

My mom and I went to the hamburger museum. We saw lots of hamburgers. I saw two hands holding a hamburger,the hands were made out of newspaper,the hamburger was made out of stone.It made me hungry. On the sign it said it's meaning is give. Only robots can eat it,it made me think because it means give. So I went to go buy lots of hamburgers to give to the homeless.I love giving to homeless,giveing  feels very heart-warming because they all said thank you very much. I felt joy in my heart.

Challenge 2/17 - Karmen | Grade 6

The race

Nearly there! Now all I had to do was swim across the wide lake and I would win the race. I could see the orange trophy on the other side of the lake. Within a minute I found myself swimming  to the other side. Wait... is that a crocodile!?!? I swam as fast as I could and felt something " chomp " on my foot. Turns out my "crocodile" was just a little fish. My lungs were burning. Pushing through I swam to the other side of the lake. I walked out the lake and collapsed, I had won the race!

The Sneeze

I was on my way to see the orange crocodile with my friend, Alex. We reached an interesting looking bench and Alex nearly sat down, but I grabbed his hand and whispered "it's a crocodile sleeping, DO NOT WAKE HIM". "I think I'm gonna sneeze, ACHOO!". Oh no! The crocodile woke up and started chasing us through the valley. All of a sudden while crossing a wide bridge the ground fell from beneath us, the bridge collapsed and within seconds we were in the water!

Challenge 2/17 - India | Grade 4

The Strange Crocodile Species

I was walking with my mom to the shops when I spotted a flyer out the corner of my eye. I stopped to look and it read: "Zoo" I read down further and it said "The Marvelous Orange Crocodile species". I begged my mom to go and she finally said yes. The next day we went to the zoo. We were heading towards the orange Crocodiles when I spotted something orange, I shouted "look" I ran to the cage and looked through the bars. The strange creatures were in a hurry I could not figure out why? I saw some of the crocodiles collapsed, tired and sleepy within the wide tunnel.

The cave

"It's coming!" panted Angeline. The crocodile is coming. This wasn't an ordinary crocodile, it was scaly with a wide orange body. "We're trapped,  I can't see an exit out of this cave!"  cried Sarah. Within the cave the girls heard weird noises , suddenly there was rumbling coming from above . Angeline look at your far right, the roof has collapsed ! said Sarah. Luckily the crocodile had lost  interest of eating the girls. The girls saw a gap and daylight in the cave and knew that was the only way they would get out of the cave, so they crawled and crawled .

A beautiful creature.

There was a little boy named James. He wanted to go to Rainbowland to see the wide orange crocodile. James loved crocodiles, all kinds. So when he got there he saw the Orange Crocodile running, he could not belive it, and within a moment the crocodile collapsed. James wanted the Orange Crocodile, so he went into the cage and the Orange crocodile ran after him. then James fell in the water, but the crocodile just wanted to help James get back up. James turned around and thanked the crocodile. And just like that James woke up. Wow, what a nice crocodile he thought to himself!

Echo

"I'm not who think I am." She whispered to me. "Who are you then?" I asked as if it wasn't that serious. She sat there without saying a word for a few seconds, while we watched the crocodile pull against its chain. All you could hear was the chain and the sound of me kicking the orange, stone wall. But there was now way out. We were stuck in a cell, with a crocodile and a few wooden boxes. The silence became deep for a second, when a crack echoed and soon the sound of a million stone bricks collapsing...

The Slime

We were in this mysterious cabin far away from the campsite, there were two boys who wondered off during the night at Camp Adventure. Ivan and Luke thought that they could find something scary and scare the girls from Camp Manicure.They were walking and saw this abandoned cabin covered in spider and spiders webs so they thought it would be cool to go and explore it and bring something back that could scare the girls . They opened the door and they saw that the slime dripped through ceiling and they heard growling. Where did the slime come from.

The disappearing slime

A boy named Pete went to a spooky shop called Junk n Stuff. Pete looked on all the shelfs and came upon a bottle of lime green slime. He looked at the label and it read The disappearing slime. Pete thought it was cool and bought it. When he was walking home he smelt something disgusting he looked to see what the smell was. The slime, it smelt like rotten feet! When he got home he couldn't wait to open the slime. His mom said that if he plays with the slime he must use a cutting board. Pete didn't listen. He went to his bedroom, and when he put the slime on his hand, the slime dripped through his fingers hit the floor and disappeared.

The Creature...

"We need to go!" Said Stacy. " We can't, not until we find it" I said rather impatiently. It was Halloween 2017. We were looking for something or...someone. "Please! I know I promised I would help you, but I didn't know you were this serious about it!" Stacy whisper-shouted. Suddenly, the slime dripped through a crack in the wall, no it wasn't slime it was... "Umm,Rosie?" Stacy looked at me like I was crazy, and then shesaw it. "RUN!" I screamed. We took off through the house and out the  door. Leaving the creature behind..

The  mosquito repellent slime

I hate mosquitoes! I hate how they bite me. I even saved my money to buy a mosquito net. One day my brother Jinks found some nice smelling mosquito repellent slime. "What do you do with it?" I asked, "it says here you should rub it on your mosquito net" he answered. I grabbed the slime from my brother and raced to my room "you owe me 5 bucks" he yelled "later" I called.
I started rubbing it on my net as soon as I got to my room, though I couldn't really rub it in properly.
That night when I went to bed I was so tired from rubbing I fell asleep quickly, but, little did I know that my net was having trouble holding the slime, even less, did I know that at about midnight the slime dripped through!
When I woke up I was covered in slime.

Challenge 1/17 - Mitchell | Grade 4

I wish I could get that slime.  

"Mom please can I have slime?" "No you can't, the slime will mess everywhere", says mom." "My favorite color is the blue one and it doesn't smell". "Fine you can have it!" So they went to the shops and bought slime. He took it out and the slime dripped through his hands on to the floor. Mom says " You can't get the slime any more!" So they went home and he tried to make slime. He could not make slime because he did not know what to do. Then his mom finally got him blue, non smelling slime.
