Challenge 8 - International Peace Day - Instructions

pod_logo_colour_transparent_shop_1424772424__19435
September 21st is International Peace Day.
This is the day that has been agreed by the United Nations and World leaders to be the day when we all actively work to make the world a safer and more peaceful world. We can all be peacemakers!
This is a very special day that we can all take part in. We all want a peaceful world but just imagine what it would be like to have at least a whole day when there were no wars, no conflicts, no fighting or arguments. We all have fallings out with friends and family. How wonderful it would be if none of us had any grumbles with each other on 21st September.

Special prompt
The prompt for this week is:

Who will you make peace with?

  • You can be yourself and write about friends and family
  • You could think about it from the point of view of a world leader
  • You could be a fighter in an area where there is conflict
  • You could be a child in a war torn country.

You will have your own ideas I know.

IMPORTANT:

When you have finished, mark your work as DONE in the Classroom and email Mrs S to let her know that you have posted your writing on your blog. Add the following labels: #100WC, Challenge 8

Lastly, be sure to go and read and comment on a minimum of three other 100WC posts by going here: http://ehsp100wc.blogspot.co.za/

Challenge 7 - Karmen Grade 5

Beautiful Nightmare

I was in a plane on my way to Indonesia. Suddenly the door of the plane opened and I fell out. I fell through branches. Someone started running to me, chasing me. I ran to. I was running faster and faster. Why were they chasing me? Soon I found myself tripping over a rock. But I think I lost them. I didn't know where i was.  I looked up. What I saw in front of me was extraordinary! I heard a sound. Then suddenly I woke up. It was all a dream! No wonder it seemed so unrealistic!

Hurdles

Lined up, I stared at the hurdles in front of me... ready for me. I was waiting for the race to start and my heart was beating like a drum. Suddenly we were all running towards the first hurdle...I was jumping over the 4th hurdle before I knew it. I was in the lead. I had just jumped over the 5th hurdle. I could see the finish line, then....my foot started to hurt, I had knocked down the hurdle. The paramedic suspected a broken ankle but I had to finish. Limping I continued. I came last but triumphed.

Challenge 6: Kabelo Grade 5

Success from Failure

I could feel the adrenaline pumping. I was prepared for anything. It was when I started the race that I knew there was something wrong, but thinking about all the training put into this and I knew that I had to continue. I was leading. I could see the finish line, then I fell badly. I felt like I had to give up. Especially hearing the commentator saying things like "Emma Andricks has fallen and Julianna Marie has taken the lead!" Then something made me get back up and finish. I didn't win, but at least I finished the race.

Challenge 6: Andreia Grade 6

Today was the day. I had been practicing for this for four years. It was finally my time to shine. This year, I was lucky enough to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympics 100m sprints. Then, if that wasn't lucky enough, I got in for the finals. Now I was on the actual track. Suddenly the pistol goes of. I quickly sprint. I could see the finish line, then I looked behind me, and saw an athletes on the track who had fallen down, everyone passing him. I ran back, picked him up, and we finished the race together.

Challenge 5 - Kabelo Grade 5

The Perfect Dance... Or Is It?

Hazel was getting ready for a dance. Her outfit was perfect, her hair was perfect, her makeup was perfect. Everything seemed perfect, but she knew something was wrong. She just didn't know what. Immediately, she rushed downstairs and asked her sister, Ashlyn, "Is there anything on my face!". Ashlyn then gasped. She explained to her sister that there was a huge spot on her face. She tried to remove it, but the spot just grew and grew. Well that's how it seemed.

Challenge 5: Erin Grade 5

Spots Everywhere

I saw a sign that said "Free Hypnotizing Session". Why not, I thought. Just as I walked through the door, it creaked. Standing in front of me was a very interesting looking lady. She did not speak, she just stood there. As quick as a flash she pulled out a picture of a spot. I stared at the small spot but the spot just grew and grew. Eventually all I could see was the spot. I felt something wet on my cheek. Then I woke up to my dog licking my face.

Challenge 5: Caitlin Grade 6

Disappear

It's just another day. But... Something isn't right. Usually the sun's very hot and bright, even in Winter, but today I could look straight at it without hurting my eyes. As I look closer I notice a black spot on the sun. What's going on? As I carry on looking I notice that the spot just got bigger. If it gets any bigger it will cover the sun, what will happen to us then? Other people were noticing and started to shout and scream. The spot just grew and grew until the sun disappeared, and there was nothing left.

Challenge 5 - Kira Grade 6

The Spot Shaped Like A Hat

On the 18 of May, I spilled some grape juice on my parents mat.
It was a white and black mat. But now there was a spot on it in the shape of a hat.
I tried to clean it up! I really did... But then that didn't work, so I moved my toy Tigger and put it over the stain. It started to rain. The rain made the spot grow and glow. I tried to stop, it didn't work. But the spot just grew and grew, if it got any bigger it wouldn't fit under my toy Tigger!

Challenge 5 - Andreia Grade 6

Lately, I have been doing lots of DIY projects. This morning I decided to make a special formula to make vegetables taste delicious. But it went horribly wrong. I had just finished pouring the formula into a bottle, when my dog bumped the table, causing the bottle to fall. A bit of my formula had gotten onto my frock, and made a spot. I tried to wipe it off but the spot just grew and grew. Eventually it covered my whole dress. Suddenly, my dress disintegrated, revealing my PJs! I'm glad I didn't eat the vegetables I sprayed it on!

Challenge 4 - Lauren Grade 5

Monday Morning.

It was a Monday morning. The teacher was droning on about something that felt too complicated for me to understand. Luckily I had a secret hoard of food under my desk. I quietly reached for a sweet and popped one in my mouth. Suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a paper jet. Some kids in my row had started to fly them around the classroom. One soared right past Mrs. Eagley's nose. Luckily she didn't notice. I started to crunch on a packet of chips. Suddenly Mrs Eagley looked up. "WHO IS EATING IN MY CLASS?!" She screamed. Then she looked right at me. "KAREN!" Oh dear.

Challenge 4 - Karmen Grade 5

Winter

Winter is my favourite season... Picture this, a row of fluffy pillows and a warm fleece blanket for me to lie underneath, watching a good movie, in fact my favourite movie..Twilight. The fire in the fireplace heats up the room and I love the crackling sound of wood burning. I sip on my piping hot milo and watch the sparks fly between the wolves and the vampires on the screen.  And when I take a long breath through my nose, I smell the sweet smell of the potato chips roasting in the oven..... I really do love winter.

Challenge 4 - Thato Grade 5

Being a Human

Today was another usual day. I could hear the chirps of birds in trees. I was sitting on my branch watching the sun rise. The sun shined on the row of houses in which the humans lived. I looked at the houses and wandered what humans were like. I decided to fly around and see. I passed a house with a rather chubby human sitting on the couch eating chips and sweet snacks. I watched him longer. He did nothing but lie around and eat. If that was all humans did, then it was better being a bird like me.

Challenge 4 - Rosie Grade 5

Lies

The water glistened, and the waves sang
A song so sweet, but oh so sad
Chips of my world fell from the sky
Grew long wings, and started to fly
Petals dropped, all in a row
Waiting for the crashes of the waves to grow
People said this was all a lie
But that's not true and this is why.

Challenge 4 - Erin Grade 5

The Chips

There they were, the most delicious looking chips. Guess what? Mom just bought them for me. As I bit into one of the chips, it was not what I expected. It was...sweet. Then mom asked, "How're the chips?" "They are so delicious," I lied. Then a row of birds caught my eye. When mom looked away, I threw those chips at them. Mom turned around and said, "Look at all those birds fly away and look Abby, that pigeon has the same chips as you in its mouth. What a coincidence. Wait where are your chips?" Mom asked.

Challenge 4: Caitlin Grade 6

The Butterfly Effect

I have to get to the machine! It's going to leave without me! I was running when I stepped on a fly. Will that change something!? I rammed into the machine just as there was a flash and it started leaving. I got back to present day, 2050. I went to the past to test my time machine. I got home, and was greeted by my roommate. "Lie is row and chips chair?" She said. "What?" I asked, "you're not making any sense." "Sweet is what dog table?" She replied. What did the fly have to do with language?
